The Taking A Stand's project purpose was to convey a message of boldness in a time of diversity during the Civil Right’s Movement, catching the attention of those in their 20’s-40’s who are not completely educated or made aware of the circumstances of those who fought in Milwaukee at the time of the Movement. The use of simple and modern type in this poster was able to communicate boldness to the desired audience through the placement of the diagonally-centered text, creating something interesting to look at in a modern and minimalistic format. The letters fit together in such a way that contrast, positive and negative space, as well as emphasis were implicated through the spaces in and around the words.
